Road Safety Week
Road Safety Week
Although the UK roads are still some of the safest in the world, we can all do more to improve the manner of our driving and the way in which those who drive for us approach road safety.
Road Safety Week 2023 is an annual campaign organized by Brake, a road safety charity in the UK. The campaign took place this year from 19th to 25th November 2023. The theme for this year’s campaign was “Let’s talk about SPEED”. The campaign aims to raise awareness about the dangers of excess or inappropriate speed and encourage people to drive safely.
The DVSA is also aiming to reduce the number of people killed and injured by making the roads safer in the UK. The current statistics show that an average of 1,697 people were killed each year between 2017 and 2020. One element of the DVSA strategic plan is to reduce this figure partly by promoting walking or cycling.
Let’s all do our bit to bring down the number of casualties on the roads by driving mindfully and leaving those mobile phones in the boot!
